What is the open data portal?

Portal de Datos Abiertos

The MITECO's open data portal aims to make the data held by the Department freely available, easily accessible and reusable to users, both natural and legal persons.

This initiative is in line with Law 37/2007 of 16 November, on the re-use of public sector information, which establishes the legal framework for the re-use of public sector information, and making it available to the public as open data.

The open data portal allows users to interact, directly or through APIs, with the data available on the portal.

The information can be consulted in the data catalogue, where the metadata of the different datasets are presented. Currently the Data Set available for consultation corresponds to the high value data of the "Geospatial" and "Earth Observation" categories, which are under the custody of MITECO, and which are defined as such in the Implementing Regulation (EU) 138/2023).
