An open data portal is an online platform where information collected by a public organization is published in an accessible and reusable form. Data are available in standardised, open and free formats.

It is an open-source platform for data storage, distribution and API provision that makes data accessible and usable by providing tools for publishing, sharing, finding and using data.

The Data Catalogue currently contains the Ministry's High Value Data Sets (HVDS) (paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU)138/2023). All HVDS, their metadata, the data dictionary and the data itself can be consulted and downloaded.

In the future it is foreseen that the data catalogue will contain all MITECO's open datasets.

You can find all the information available to the user on the website of the different units of the Ministry.

This is the information needed to explain the data: "data about data", and therefore be able to use it in the right way.

There are two access routes:

either by directly by consulting the Data Catalogue on the website, or through the APIs.

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of functions and procedures that allow systems to be integrated, allowing their functionalities to be reused by other applications or software.

The data published on this portal are generally licensed under open licences, such as Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0), which allow their use, distribution and modification, as long as the public body is acknowledged as the source. See the page for each dataset for more details on the specific licence.

The data are permanently updated, i.e. the latest information available at the Ministry is always available, in accordance with the dissemination calendar.

Both the date of the last update of the Metadata and the date of the data can be consulted in the dataset(s) of the Data Catalogue itself.

In addition, reference is made to both the date of publication and the frequency of the information available (hourly, monthly, bimonthly, quarterly...).

You can search for data using the search bar on the homepage or by applying filters by category, format or keywords.

Yes, data is generally downloadable in open and standardised formats, such as CSV, JSON, XML, depending on the dataset. This ensures that they are compatible with most analysis and visualisation tools.

Yes, many of the datasets published on this portal can be accessed through application programming interfaces (APIs). This allows developers to integrate the data directly into their applications, systems or real-time analyses. In each dataset you will find information on API availability, technical documentation and examples of use. You can also consult our "API Access" page for more details.

If you detect errors, inconsistencies or outdated data, you can report them through the form or email available in the "Contact" section.

The data catalogue includes interactive tools to preview and explore some datasets without the need to download them, however, there is no ability to analyse data in the Data Portal itself. Links to different pre-built visualisations on the most relevant topics are provided.
